Obituary - Obituary (2017)

To be the tenth album, and the twenty-seventh year of career (disbanded in 1997, then reformed in 2003, formed in 1984), the pioneers of death metal Obituary, from Tampa, Florida, do not seem to be affected by old age: this namesake, brand new record heavy as a stone, is a worthy death metal album, honoring the tutelary deities (Celtic Frost - listen to "It Lives", or also "Straight to Hell" - Slayer - the opening "Brave") of the genre, makes you think that, after all, even at (almost) 50 years, you can easily play music at breakneck, while at home you can take care of cats (you will not believe it, but the drummer Donald Tardy, helped by the other members and even by their wives, while they are on tour, is the founder of Metal Meowlisha, an organization who takes care of cats).
Very, very short album (just 33 minutes) but heavy, where the newcomer, the lead guitarist Kenny Andrews, proves to be a great musician (listen the end of "Ten Thousand Ways to Die", and the others rocks, perhaps more than usual, since the reunion in 2003.
