No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Come è stato

As Was - Black Anvil (2017)

Fourth record from the New York quartet, cataloged under the label of black metal, but definitely looking for something different, which is in the midst of all the influences that they declare, and which do not always denote. How correctly comments on Pitchfork the author of the review, me too, preparing me to talk about this new record, listening to the previous "Hail Death", I was really impressed with choosing a Kiss cover as a bonus track, and not a cover of a famous track, but of a dark jewel such as "Under the Rose", contained in the not-so-well known Music from "The Elder", played in a way not far from the original. Returning to the Black Anvil (a tribute to Black Sabbath and Judas Priest), as I said they continue their journey on a road that start from a black metal influenced by thrash as well as from hardcore punk, but also from some glam rock (Kiss, of course, but Twisted Sister are also mentioned by the band, like Bad Brains, Black Flag, Metallica, Venom, Celtic Frost and others) and classic metal (which you can clearly listen in the guitar solos), giving us a hard, surprising and interesting record, embracing a really large metal field.
