Quarto album della band di Baltimore, Maryland (USA), da un po' sulla bocca di tutti. Ho ascoltato l'album più volte, e devo ammettere che tendo ad esaltarmi su alcuni passaggi (quelli più punk rock, che definirli hardcore mi sembra davvero una forzatura, e quelli nei quali - ha ragione Nina Corcoran su Pitchfork - ricordano davvero i The Police), mentre su altri, alcune melodie, alcuni ritornelli, non mi convincono fino in fondo, fino a rasentare il plagio (Seein' Stars/Birds è When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around dei The Police, Slow Dive è Sweet Leaf dei Black Sabbath). Disco che non lascia sicuramente indifferenti, un po' leggerino, un po' già sentito, un po' intrigante.
The fourth album from this Baltimore, Maryland, band has been on everyone's lips for a while now. I've listened to the album several times, and I have to admit that I tend to get excited about certain passages (the more punk rock ones, which calling them hardcore seems like a stretch, and the ones where—as Nina Corcoran on Pitchfork is right—they really do recall The Police), while on others, certain melodies and choruses don't entirely convince me, to the point of plagiarism ("Seein' Stars/Birds" is "When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around" by The Police, "Slow Dive" is "Sweet Leaf" by Black Sabbath). It's certainly a record that doesn't leave anyone indifferent; a little light, a little déjà-vu, a little intriguing.
