I londinesi Pupil Slicer, qui al loro terzo album, da me seguiti fin dal loro debutto, non sono solamente una delle sempre più numerose, per fortuna, band metal con componenti femminili (Kate Davies, chitarra e voce). Sono, come vi ho già detto, in occasione del loro secondo album Blossom, una delle band metal da seguire assolutamente. Questo loro nuovo Fleshwork ne è la prova tangibile: un disco rumorosissimo, che travolgerà i vostri sensi, oltre che il vostro udito. Mathcore, per chi segue il metal di un certo tipo, è un'etichetta che carica le band che vengono così definite, di una certa responsabilità: loro ne sono degni, se nei primi album potevate sentire echi dei Dillinger Escape Plan, stavolta potrete "incontrare" reminiscenze dei Converge, mentre l'influenza del blackgaze ben fatto, alla Deafheaven, e una delle loro principali ispirazioni quando si tratta di fare quelli che in gergo si chiamano breakdowns. Grande ispirazione nella composizione, ed un'energia debordante. Un grande disco.
Londoners Pupil Slicer, here on their third album, a band I've followed since their debut, aren't just one of the fortunately growing number of female-fronted metal bands (Kate Davies, guitar and vocals). They are, as I mentioned when I talked about their second album, one of the metal bands you absolutely must follow on. Their new Fleshwork is tangible proof of this: a truly noisy album that will overwhelm your senses, as well as your ears. Mathcore, for those who follow a certain type of metal, is a label that places a certain responsibility on bands that are defined as such: Pupil Slicer are worthy of it. If in their first albums you could hear echoes of Dillinger Escape Plan, this time you can "encounter" reminiscences of Converge, while the influence of well-crafted blackgaze, à la Deafheaven, is one of their main inspirations when it comes to what are known in the jargon as breakdowns. Great songwriting inspiration, and an overflowing energy. A great album.
