Kannon - Sunn O))) (2015)

Faccio di nuovo un passo indietro al 2015, per parlarvi finalmente di un disco dei Sunn O))), band ormai leggendaria, nonostante abbiano "solo" 18 anni, per la loro musica, davvero estrema, definitivamente ai margini.
Avvicinarsi ad un loro disco non è affatto facile. Bisogna abbandonare ogni certezza, ogni schema precostituito. Sicuramente farò un discorso grossolano, ma loro, gli Ulver e i Wolves in the Throne Room, hanno ridefinito i confini del metal, e, come già detto, probabilmente della musica tutta.
Questo Kannon sembra una sorta di messa nera metallica, noise e drone quanto basta. Tre tracce (Kannon 1, 12,50 minuti, Kannon 2, 9,10, e Kannon 3, 11,26) fatte di chitarra-drone ma, come dire, non "nervosa", molto più sabbathiana e molto evocativa, e di lamenti quasi da oltretomba (a cura di Attila Csihar, ormai in pianta stabile anche nei Sunn O)))).
So che, come me, sarete impauriti all'idea di affrontare quasi 35 minuti di questo genere, ma prendete il coraggio a due mani e fatelo, prima o poi.



I'm doing again a step back to 2015, to speak at last of an album of the Sunn O))), the legendary noise-drone-metal band, despite they are "only" 18 years old, for their music, really extreme, definitely on the borders.
Approach a Sunn O))) album is definitely not easy. We must abandon all certainty, any preconceived scheme. Surely I will make a coarse speech, but they, with Ulver and the Wolves in the Throne Room, have redefined the boundaries of metal, and, as already mentioned, probably the whole music.
This "Kannon" seems a sort of metallic black mass, noise and drone as required. Three tracks ("Kannon 1", 12.50 minutes, "Kannon 2", 9,10, and "Kannon 3", 11,26) made of guitar-drone but, be careful, not exactly "nervous" as we could expected, more sabbath-esque and very evocative, and laments, almost from afterlife (by Attila Csihar, now on a permanent basis even in Sunn O)))).
I know that, like me, you will be afraid to face the idea of ​​almost 35 minutes of this kind of music experience, but take courage in both hands, and do it, sooner or later.
