Dovete crederci se vi dico che nonostante questo sia il ventesimo disco, a cura del duo formato da John Flansburgh e John Linnell, conosciutisi da adolescenti a Lincoln, Massachusetts, poi riunitisi a Brooklyn, New York, per cominciare la loro carriera che va avanti dal 1982, io è il primo che ascolto.
Si capisce immediatamente (lo so, non ce n'è bisogno, venti dischi e una carriera ultratrentennale parlano già da soli) che i ragazzi sono dei musicisti scafati, che sanno scrivere le canzoni ad occhi chiusi, che riescono tranquillamente ad attraversare e a mettere insieme tutte le influenze che ruotano attorno al rock, partendo dai Beatles (a mio modesto parere, una delle influenze più importanti), fino ai giorni nostri.
Disco godibile e, come dice il titolo, divertente, eterogeneo e moderno.
You have to believe me if I tell you that, despite this is the twentieth record, by the duo formed by John Flansburgh and John Linnell, known themselves when they were teenagers in Lincoln, Massachusetts, then re-met in Brooklyn, New York, to begin their career that goes on from 1982, for me, it's the first one that I listen.
You understand immediately (I know, there is no need, twenty records and a career over 30 years already speak for themselves) that the boys are extra-expert musicians, who can write the songs with their eyes closed, who can safely cross and put together all the influences that revolve around rock, starting from the Beatles (in my humble opinion, one of the most important influences), up to the present day.
Enjoyable and, as the title says, funny, heterogeneous and modern.
