La moda del vintage (detta così, una contraddizione in termini) c'è dappertutto. In musica, si può definire retrospettiva, oppure semplicemente ad alcuni musicisti non piace quello che offre il presente (o il futuro). Potremmo allargare il discorso e parlare di radici, ma mi serviva solamente una breve introduzione, per dirvi che questo terzo disco dei tedeschi Kadavar, che omaggia Berlino in quanto città che li ha accolti e fatti crescere, è uno splendido gioiello retró, e ci sarebbe ben poco da aggiungere, se non ascoltarlo e goderne. Non conoscendo la storia della band, leggo che questo è il primo album col bassista Simon Dragon Bouteloup, che mi pare un ottimo musicista, utilissimo per il suono denso della band (un trio), e per gli assoli di Christoph Lupus Lindemann, chitarra e voce. Completa la band il batterista Christoph Tiger Bartelt. Bonus track una cover di Nico, Reich der traume, dove i Kadavar si lasciano andare a suggestioni psichedeliche.
Vintage is fashion, today. Also in music, we are seeing many bands that are going to the research of an old-style kind of sound. German band Kadavar are one of these bands, and this is their third album, called "Berlin" as the city that gave them home and made them grow. Anyway, this power trio write powerful songs, on the edge of stoner, hard and heavy, psychedelic rock, with an heavy vintage sound. What can I say, it's very good.
