Primo disco dal vivo per la band di Austin, Texas, una band che, come saprà chi segue questo blog, mi entusiasma fin dai loro inizi, e che ha mostrato uno stupefacente progresso di maturazione. Il disco contiene nove tracce, una dal debutto Age of Winters, una dal secondo Gods of the Earth, due da Warp Riders, nessuna da Apocryphon, quattro da High Country e una cover, John the Revelator (un traditional gospel blues "call and response"), fatta uscire dalla band nel 2016 come 7 pollici, in occasione del Record Store Day, e mi lascia perfettamente soddisfatto: sono cosciente di non averli mai visti live, so da resoconti che il quartetto non ha grande presenza scenica, e la voce di John D. Cronise è, come quella, purtroppo, di altre grandi band metal recenti, molto peggiore rispetto alle registrazioni in studio. Nonostante ciò, l'essenza del suono dei The Sword si evince in maniera chiara. Probabilmente, è più un disco per fan, e quindi, fa al caso mio.
First live album for the band from Austin, Texas, a band that, as who follows this blog knows, which I have been thrilled about, since its inception, and has shown an amazing maturation progress. The record contains nine tracks, one from the "Age of Winters" debut, one from the second "Gods of the Earth", two from "Warp Riders", none from "Apocryphon", four from "High Country", and a cover, "John the Revelator" (a traditional gospel blues "call and response"), released from the band in 2016 as 7 inches, on the "Record Store Day", and leaves me perfectly satisfied: I am aware that I have never seen them live, so, I know from several reports that the quartet does not have great scenic presence, and the voice of John D. Cronise is, unfortunately, like the ones of many other major recent metal bands, much worse than studio recordings. Nevertheless, the essence of The Sword's sound is clear. Probably, it's more like fan-album, so it's my case.
