Vinile

Vinyl - di Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese, Rich Cohen e Terence Winter - Stagione 1 (10 episodi; HBO) - 2016

1973, New York City.

Al suo posto, Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!, Contagion).
Bobby Cannavale (Richie) è spettacolare. Sempre molto divertente Max Casella (Julie).

No denying it, especially for music fan, pseudo rockers like us, Vinyl was the most expected novelty of this season. As usual, we expect a lot more than what a TV series can give you, and often someone could be disappointed. As I always say, maybe it would be because I'm getting older, maybe because I am learning the art of diplomacy for my work, maybe because I am simply an incurable optimist, I tried to adopt a balanced position to judge this first season of the series commissioned by his majesty Mick Jagger (his son James plays in this series) and Martin Scorsese, that is about of the '70s in the States, and of what was happening in the music, adopting the point of view of a record company (and its talent scouts).
Well, the verdict is enough, certainly: great directions, impressive historical reconstructions even in costumes, "apparitions" of celebrities (always impersonated by actors and actresses, mind you, not only musicians) but always well-proportioned effect, excellent actorial performances. Defects: fluctuating screenplay, episodes too long (already running jokes about, even in the sit com), different storylines "what the fuck?". We'll see how and if it will change Vinyl from next season, in 2017: Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, The Wolf of Wall Street) has left his position of showrunner at the end of the first season, due to creative differences. In its place, Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!, Contagion).

Bobby Cannavale (Richie) is spectacular. Always funny Max Casella (Julie). Also starring Olivia Wilde (Devon Finestra), Juno Temple (Jamie). James Jagger is Kip, the leader of Nasty Bits, and he is not doing bad at all.
