A poco più di un anno di distanza dal precedente Raise A Little Hell, ecco il sesto lavoro degli irlandesi del nord The Answer. Come vi scrissi nell'occasione del commento al disco precedente, i The Answer sono di quelle band che non inventano nulla, ma che risultano piacevoli a chi ama il rock in tutte le sue sfaccettature, soprattutto se cresciuto a pane e rock. C'è da notare che l'evoluzione, se così la vogliamo chiamare, della band in questione, viaggia chiaramente da un suono più duro (AC/DC oriented), verso uno spettro che abbraccia molti altri "campi", ivi incluso il folk, il country rock, il southern rock. Ecco quindi che si spiegano episodi quali In This Land, Being Begotten, Demon Driven Man, Tunnel (echi di CSN&Y addirittura), ma c'è da dire che Solas è davvero un album variegato, perché su Thief of Light siamo a una ballata con chiare influenze celtiche, mentre, per dire, con Left Me Standing si torna all'hard rock al quale eravamo abituati con i nordirlandesi.
Al solito, un disco onesto, sul quale la band ha sicuramente lavorato sodo, dove non si inventa niente ma che decisamente vi può accompagnare piacevolmente durante un viaggio, senza il pericolo di annoiarvi.
A little over a year after the previous "Raise A Little Hell", here is the sixth work of the Northern Ireland The Answer. As I wrote on the occasion of the comments to the previous album, The Answer are one of those bands that do not invent anything, but are pleasant to those who love rock in all its facets, especially if you was raised on bread and rock. It should be noted that the evolution, if we want to call it so, of the band in question, traveling clearly from an harder sound (AC/DC oriented), into a spectrum that encompasses many other "fields", including folk, country rock, southern rock.
So you can explain episodes such as "In This Land", "Being Begotten", "Demon Driven Man", "Tunnel" (echoes of CSN&Y, even), but it must be said that "Solas" is really a diversified album because on "Thief of Light" we are in a ballad with clear Celtic influences, while, so to say, "Left Me Standing" bring you back to hard rock to which we were accustomed with the Northern Irish.
As usual, an honest record, on which the band has certainly worked hard, where you do not invent anything but definitely you can pleasantly accompany while traveling, without the danger of bored.
