E così, i Followill sono arrivati al loro settimo disco. Si intitola WALLS, e pare che sia l'acronimo di We Are Like Love Songs. A Roma direbbero "esticazzi?" per esprimere un moderato disinteressamento. E, debutto (Youth and Young Manhood) e capolavoro (Only By the Night) a parte, siamo alle solite. I fratelli e cugini di Nashville, Tennessee, sono diventati degli innocui artigiani del pop rock, che conservano il dono di un songwriting accattivante (Over, Eyes on You, Walls, Find Me), ma che ormai non riescono davvero più a graffiare, ad emozionare fino in fondo, ad entrarti in testa e soprattutto, nel cuore.
Potremmo rincarare la dose, sottolineando che molti pezzi sanno di già sentito, proprio da loro. Solita storia: marchio di fabbrica fino ad un certo punto, dopo di che, cover band di se stessi. La verità è che probabilmente, se fate ascoltare questo disco ad una persona che non si interessa particolarmente e approfonditamente di musica, e che non conosce i Kings of Leon, lo troverà pure carino. Ma, giusto per essere veramente snob, noi sappiamo qualcosa in più.

The brothers and cousins ​​from Nashville, Tennessee, have become harmless craftsmen of pop rock, that preserve the gift of a catchy songwriting ("Over", "Eyes on You", "Walls", "Find Me"), but which no longer really able to scratch, to thrill you to the end, to get into your head and especially in the heart.
We could make matters worse, noting that many tracks sounds as something we already heard, especially from them. Same old story: trademark up to a certain point, after which, cover band of themselves. The truth is that probably, if you give to listen this album to a person who does not care very deeply and music, and he does not know the Kings of Leon, he will find it even cute. But, just to be really snobby, we know something more.
