Ed eccoci al decimo disco in studio di Brian Warner aka Marilyn Manson. Nonostante un disaccordo non di poco conto (Warner minacciò Bates con un taglierino durante un concerto nel 2015), continua la collaborazione con il polistrumentista, e compositore di colonne sonore Tyler Bates, musicista che in pratica su questo disco ha suonato tutti gli strumenti (a parte la batteria, ancora in carica a Gil Sharone, e la voce, naturalmente del Reverendo), e che, c'è da dirlo, sta infondendo nuova linfa a questi ultimi anni della band. Sappiamo inoltre che recentemente, Warner ha "lasciato andare" il bassista Twiggy Ramirez, recentemente accusato di stupro (nei confronti della sua ex fidanzata Jessicka Addams, cantante delle Jack Off Jill), sostituito in tour da Juan Alderete (Racer X, Mars Volta). Il disco, musicalmente si presenta compatto e omogeneo, proseguendo lungo lo stile che caratterizza da anni il suono dei MM, con inserti sempre più massicci di elettronica, industrial, qualche sorpresa come in Kill4Me (chitarre vagamente low-fi), canzoni lineari e meno tambureggianti, un pezzo "dilatato" come Saturnalia, e, in generale, un disco ben scritto e arrangiato come si deve. Testi cattivi e allusivi, come ci si aspetta. Pezzo preferito: Blood Honey.

Despite a brief disagreement (Warner threatened Bates with a box-cutter knife during a concert in 2015), he continued collaborating with the multi-instrumentalist and soundtrack composer Tyler Bates, a musician who practically played all the instruments on this record, less the drums, still in charge of Gil Sharone, and the voice, naturally of the Reverend), and that, this has to be said, he's infusing new lymph in the last years of the band. We also know that Warner recently "let go" bass player Twiggy Ramirez, recently accused of rape (against his former girlfriend Jessicka Addams, singer of Jack Off Jill), replaced on tour by Juan Alderete (Racer X, Mars Volta) . The album is musically compact and homogeneous, continuing along the style of MM for years, with massive electronic, industrial inserts, some surprises like on "Kill4Me" (vaguely low-fi guitars), linear songs and less tribal-drumming, a "dilated" track like "Saturnalia", and, in general, a well-written album, with as it should be arrangments. Fierce and allusive texts, as expected. Favorite track: "Blood Honey".
