Incuriosito da alcune segnalazioni, tutte positive, mi sono messo all'ascolto del quarto disco della band di Chicago, Illinois, ed ho inizialmente trovato un approccio post-metal, già piacevole per gentaccia come me, proveniente dal metal, e che solo dopo un po' ha lasciato che si aprissero gli orizzonti musicali, ma tutto sommato niente di troppo sorprendente. Dopo qualche traccia, però, e precisamente durante la terza Galactic Brain, mi è parso di aver trovato la chiave di volta per la "lettura" del disco: Black Sabbath in salsa Neurosis. Era già un qualcosa di interessante, ma procedendo con l'ascolto, si hanno altre sorprese. Il quintetto, tre chitarre, un basso una batteria, due voci, una urlante e l'altra profonda, in alcuni passaggi può anche ricordare i Baroness, mentre i duetti chitarristici ricordano le migliori band doom di una volta. Potenza da vendere, e, come detto, una band da tenere d'occhio.
Intrigued by some reviews, all positive, I decided to listen to the fourth album of the band from Chicago, Illinois, and I initially found a post-metal approach, already pleasant for ugly people like me, coming from metal, and that only after a little time left the horizons open up musically, but all in all nothing too surprising. After some tracks, however, and precisely during the third Galactic Brain, it seemed to me that I had found the keystone for the "reading" of the record: Black Sabbath in Neurosis sauce. It was already something interesting, but proceeding with the listening, you have other surprises. The quintet, three guitars, a bass guitar, one drummer, two voices, one screaming and the other deep, in some passages can also remember the Baroness, while the guitar duets remember the best doom bands of yesteryear. Powerful, and, as mentioned, a band to keep an eye on it.
