Stavo cercando un disco nuovo, e del tutto casualmente mi sono imbattuto in un remastered di un disco totalmente non ufficiale dei leggendari Boston. Ve ne voglio parlare, giusto per ricordarvi che sono esistiti (in realtà, sulla carta esistono ancora, l'ultimo disco risale al 2013, e le ultime esibizioni live al 2016), e che sono stati una grandissima band rock. La registrazione è stata effettuata durante il concerto alla Long Beach Arena il 16 marzo del 1977, ed erano al tempo stesso in corso le registrazioni del secondo disco Don't Look Back. Le tracce quindi appartengono per lo più al primo disco Boston, del 1976, quindi includono il bellissimo hit single More Than a Feeling, ma ci sono alcuni inediti. Help Me, che in realtà si dovrebbe intitolare Shattered Images (apparsa su una versione rimasterizzata di Don't Look Back del 2006 in Canada, che è poi stata ritirata dalle vendite), This Time, che non è altro se non l'assolo di chitarra di Tom Scholz abbinato ad uno slow blues, e Television Politician. Nella scaletta anche A Man I'll Never Be, inedita all'epoca, visto che apparve in Don't Look Back. Disco che dimostra la grandezza dei Boston anche dal vivo, band che purtroppo ha avuto tristi vicissitudini (il suicidio del cantante storico Brad Delp, atto di cui è stato accusato Scholz, a causa dei loro litigi), ma che ha letteralmente inventato un suono.
I was looking for a new record, and quite casually I came across a remastered of a totally unofficial record of the legendary hard rock band Boston. I want to talk about it, just to remind you that they existed (in fact, on paper still exist, the last album dates back to 2013, and the last live performances in 2016), and that they were a great rock band. The recording was made during the concert at the Long Beach Arena on March 16, 1977, while the recordings of the second album Don't Look Back were in progress. The tracks therefore belong mostly to the debut "Boston", 1976, so they include the beautiful single hit "More Than a Feeling", but there are some unreleased tracks. "Help Me", which actually should be called "Shattered Images" (which appeared on a remastered version of "Don't Look Back" in 2006 in Canada, which was later withdrawn from sales), "This Time", which is nothing but the guitar solo of Tom Scholz combined with a slow blues, and "Television Politician". In the tracklist also "A Man I'll Never Be", unpublished at the time, since it appeared in "Don't Look Back". Disc that demonstrates the greatness of Boston also live, a band that unfortunately has had sad vicissitudes (the suicide of the historical singer Brad Delp, an act of which he was accused Scholz, because of their quarrels), but who has literally invented a sound.
