Seguendo le nuove uscite, mi imbatto naturalmente in dischi nuovi di band mai conosciute. E' il caso di questa band proveniente da Ellicott City, Maryland, formatasi nel 2006, autrice di tre dischi in studio, due EP, un live e una riedizione acustica del loro disco di debutto, che esce alla fine del 2017 da uno iato di 3 anni, per riunirsi e mettere insieme materiale per questo nuovo disco. Qualche membro perso per strada, uno dei quali si è fatto pure un anno di carcere, adesso la band è un terzetto, sempre capitanato da AJ Perdomo, voce, basso e compositore, e la loro musica appare molto semplice e diretta: un qualcosa che arriva dalla scia del punk rock e del grunge, ma si nutre soprattutto di quel movimento che prende il nome di emo. La band è compatta e svolge il compito diligentemente, la chitarra traccia tappeti armonici che partono dallo stile di The Edge, la sezione ritmica sa quando spingere, e c'è da riconoscere che la voce di Perdomo è quella giusta, potente e roca quanto basta, vagamente Greg Dulli, e il suo songwriting tocca le corde dell'emozione. Disco piacevole.
