Sono passati 19 anni dal debutto di Natalie Renée McIntyre, in arte Macy Gray, e questo è il suo decimo disco. Quando la scheda Wikipedia me lo ha fatto notare, non ci credevo, ma è così. Veniamo al dunque: disco molto jazzato, seppure fedele alle radici RNB di Macy, il disco è un tripudio di fiati e di arrangiamenti dal sapore quasi ragtime. La voce è tutt'ora inconfondibile, e le canzoni quasi tutte molto coinvolgenti. Niente di meglio per cambiare un po' genere, di quando in quando.
It's been 19 years since the debut of Natalie Renée McIntyre, aka Macy Gray, and this is her tenth record. When the Wikipedia page pointed out to me, I did not believe it, but it is true. Let's get to the point: a very jazzy record, although faithful to Macy's RNB roots, the record is a blaze of horns, and the arrangements make me think to an almost ragtime flavor. The voice is still unmistakable, and the songs are almost all very engaging. Nothing better to change a little the music genre, from time to time.
