Album di debutto del duo tedesco, scoperto da poco. Particolare, seppur nell'ambito doom/sludge/death metal. Chitarra e batteria (Hanno Klanhardt ed Erinc Sakarya) senza l'uso del basso, i due dipingono suggestioni che richiamano Melvins senza il loro sarcasmo e decisamente più cupi e death metal, ricordando addirittura, in alcuni passaggi, reminiscenze post grunge. Un rifferama infernale, un drumming secco, potente e selvaggio, ampio spettro di distorsioni fino al droning, e un cantato teso, sofferto e decisamente punk. Insomma, un mix interessante, che senza dubbio non farebbe pensare a nessun ascoltatore che non conosca le loro origini, che siano tedeschi. Provare per credere.
Debut album for the german duo Mantar, this "Death By Burning" is an interesting object inside the field of metal. The sound of Mantar is a really strange and asymmetric blend of sludge, punk, death, doom and post grunge. Powerful and wild drumming by Enric Sakarya, and guitar with a wide range of distortion (until droning), with an intense rifferama by Hanno Klanhardt. This last is also the vocalist, and his samples of roars and screams is definitely more punk than metal. No way to think at a german band, if you don't know this thing before listening.
