Definitivamente, il combo di San Francisco che gira intorno ai due membri fondatori George Clarke (voce) e Kerry McCoy (chitarra), ha affinato lo stile e si candida a rappresentare una delle realtà più fresche ed impressionanti del nuovo metal.
Lo stile shoegazing metal che li contraddistingue fin dagli inizi di Roads to Judah, passando dal secondo Sunbather, del quale vi parlai in termini piuttosto elogiativi, si è affinato, come vi dicevo, elaborando pezzi massicci, compatti, lunghi, composti spesso da parti melodiche, introduttive, parti tese e veloci, rallentamenti micidiali, addirittura assoli di chitarra molto interessanti, droni che fanno da tappeto a passaggi killer di batteria e ruggiti vocali di George.
Davvero difficile eleggere una preferita, tra i cinque pezzi che compongono questo nuovo ed intrigante lavoro. Brought to the Water, Luna, Come Back, Baby Blue e Gifts for the Earth si ascoltano tutti di un fiato, per circa 47 minuti circa di illuminante post metal, che come fanno notare critici accreditati e no (me compreso, già la volta scorsa), citano Mogwai e Dillinger Escape Plan, e provano a portare, appunto, il post metal al livello successivo.
Anche se non ci riuscissero, sicuramente stanno dando il loro contributo.
Definitely, the combo of San Francisco that runs around the two founding members George Clarke (vocals) and Kerry McCoy (guitar), has refined his style and is a candidate to be one of the freshest, most impressive bands of the new metal.
A sort of shoegazing metal style, that distinguishes them from the beginning of "Roads to Judah", from the second "Sunbathers", of which I spoke in laudatory terms rather, it aged, as I said, working out of solid, compact, long songs, often consist of melodic parts , introductory parts tense and fast, deadly slowdowns, even guitar solos very interesting, drones that form the carpet for killer drums steps and roaring voice of George.
Really hard to elect a favorite among the five pieces that make up this new and intriguing work. You have to listen "Brought to the Water", "Luna", "Come Back", "Baby Blue" and "Gifts for the Earth" all in one breath, for about 47 minutes of enlightening post metal, which as noted by critics accredited and not (including me, already last time), cite Mogwai and Dillinger Escape Plan, and try to bring, in fact, the post metal to the next level.
Even if they won't be the chosen ones, they certainly are giving their contribution.
