Immaginatevi dei Battles in piena forma ma più jazzy, che cominciano a flirtare con l'hip hop, e non di quello gangsta, quello più vicino al soul. Questa la prima impressione che ho avuto ai primi ascolti del quarto disco della band canadese di Toronto, Ontario, lì formatasi intorno al 2010, e soprattutto, intorno all'Humber College jazz program. Fin da subito condividono l'amore per il jazz e l'hip hop, e cominciano reinterpretando pezzi (appunto) rap. Eccoli qua, come detto, al quarto lavoro, con collaborazioni che rimangono "in linea" con le intenzioni: Sam Herring (Hemlock Ernst), Colin Stetson, Kaytranada, Mick Jenkins, Charlotte Day Wilson. Ipnotici, sperimentali, musicisti coi fiocchi, il loro suono è sicuramente qualcosa di curioso, quindi, se siete in cerca di nuove forme musicali, provateli.



Imagine Battles in good shape but more jazzy, who begin to flirt with Hip Hop, and not the Gangsta one, the one closest to the Soul. This was the first impression I got to the first listening of the fourth album of the Canadian band from Toronto, Ontario; there (Toronto) was formed around 2010, and above all, around the Humber College jazz program. Immediately they share a love for Jazz and Hip Hop, and begin reinterpreting pieces (in fact) Rap. Here they are, as mentioned, the fourth work, with collaborations that remain "in line" with the intentions: Sam Herring (Hemlock Ernst), Colin Stetson, Kaytranada, Mick Jenkins, Charlotte Day Wilson. Hypnotics, experimental, tremendous musicians, their sound is definitely something curious, so if you're in search of new musical forms, check them out.
