Tabù

Taboo - di Steven Knight, Tom e Edward Hardy - Stagione 1 (8 episodi; BBC One/FX) - 2017

James Keziah Delaney.

I just read that Tom Hardy would have lost a lot of money, producing Taboo. The ratings, however, were flattering, taking into account that the series was aired in both the UK and the US. Born from a story written just from Tom, and then developed with his father Edward and the expert Steven Knight, the series brings us a in a fascinating and dirty London of the 1800, where the East India Company  was a kind of current CIA, and the Prince Regent a disgusting fat (but not stupid: a monumental Mark Gatiss). Delaney is a man who has seen it all, and apparently practices a strange form of witchcraft, learned from his mother, a Native American, and Hardy seems born for the role. The series is intriguing and spectacular, not too difficult but with some good purpose, and pulls out a stellar cast: I quote at random Oona Chaplin (first not too random), Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, a hilarious Jonathan Pryce, Franka Potente, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Tom Hollander, Marina Hands (The Barbarian Invasions), Lucian Msamati, Louis Serkis (Andy's son). There will be at least two more seasons.
