Australiana di Melbourne, Carla dal Forno è autrice di un debutto che in molti hanno segnalato come uno dei più interessanti dello scorso anno. Come dice l'amico Monty ed altri con lui, non è esattamente la mia tazza di tè, ma di sicuro è un disco spiazzante, che oserei descrivere come una cosa tra la Chelsea Wolfe più intima e un'attitudine rumoristica che non possiamo avvicinare a Pharmakon, se non concettualmente (beccatevi l'apertura di Italian Cinema con solo il rumore delle pale di un elicottero, per dire). Sempre per rimanere sulle similitudini femminili, anche una Anna von Hausswolff meno esoterica, ma comunque ugualmente misteriosa, potrebbe rendere l'idea.
Decisamente indie, il disco è un alternarsi di pezzi strumentali ipnotici, e discrete canzoni cantate quasi nascondendosi, un po' come il primo Michael Stipe. La attendiamo più avanti.
Australian from Melbourne, Carla dal Forno is the author of a debut that many have reported as one of the most interesting of last year. As my friend Monty usually says, and others with him, she is not exactly my cup of tea, but this is certainly a surprising album, which I would describe it as something between the most intimate Chelsea Wolfe, and a noisy attitude that we can not compare to Pharmakon, if not conceptually (check out the opening of "Italian Cinema", with only the noise of the blades of a helicopter, just saying). And, to stay on female similarities, also an Anna von Hausswolff less esoteric, but still mysterious, might make the idea.
Decidedly indie, the album is a succession of hypnotic instrumentals tracks, and good acoustic songs sung almost hiding herself, almost as the first Michael Stipe. We are waiting her more forward.
