E mi perdonerete se vi parlo della band polacca solo all'uscita del loro settimo disco: ho avuto da fare. Scherzi a parte, i Decapitated sono una band voluta fortemente dal fenomenale chitarrista Waclaw Kyeltyka detto Vogg, nativo di Krosno, membro anche dei Lux Occulta (anche loro di Krosno), ex Sceptic e Vader, laureato in musica, capace di suonare anche basso, piano e fisarmonica, nel 2006 ha fatto un'audizione per i Morbid Angel ed è stato tecnico delle chitarre per gli svedesi Hypocrisy, nonché venditore di strumenti musicali. Fondati nel 1996, quando Waclaw aveva 15 anni, insieme al fratello Witold detto Vitek che, all'epoca, ne aveva 12, insieme ad un cantante ed un bassista, esordirono con il primo disco Winds of Creation nel 2000, e cominciarono a crearsi una solida base di sostenitori, facendo uscire altri due dischi (Nihility e The Negation, 2002 e 2004), per poi sostituire il cantante e far uscire l'ambizioso quarto lavoro Organic Hallucinosis nel 2006. Nel 2007, un incidente stradale del loro tour bus in Russia, causa la morte di Vitek e il coma del nuovo cantante Covan, e un lungo iato della band, che poi, sempre su volere di Vogg, si riforma nel 2011, con nuovi musicisti, e fa uscire Carnival is Forever nel 2011, e Blood Mantra nel 2014. Nel frattempo, altri cambi di bassista e batterista, ed eccoci al luglio 2017, mese in cui esce questo settimo Anticult. Ora, se Alternative Press li definisce come "una delle band d'elite del Death Metal", un motivo ci deve essere, ed è presto detto, confermato da questo disco. I polacchi sono una band estremamente tecnica, nonostante i numerosissimi cambi di formazione e la storia decisamente difficile (nel 2014 sono stati coinvolti in un ennesimo incidente stradale negli USA, questa volta per fortuna senza conseguenze), e, se mi permettete, sembrano una versione death dei Mesuggah (Tomas Haake, il loro batterista, non proprio l'ultimo arrivato, commentò sulla morte di Vitek: "la comunità metal ha perso uno dei più talentuosi e dotati batteristi dei nostri tempi...Vitek era un vero talento e un genio della batteria"), e questo disco è di una brutalità notevole, non perdendo mai di vista la tecnica, né nella parte musicale, tanto meno in quella vocale. Notevoli i soli di Vogg.

The Poles are an extremely technical band, despite the tremendous change in the line-up and the difficult story (in 2014, they were involved in another road accident in the US, this time fortunately without any consequences), and if you let me, they look like a "death" version of the Mesuggah (Tomas Haake, their drummer, not just the last one, commented on Vitek's death: "The metal community lost one of the most talented and gifted drummers of our time ... Vitek was a real talent and a genius of the drum "), and this record is full of considerable brutality, never losing sight of the technique, in the musical part, nor in the vocal one. Noteworthy are the Vogg solos.
