Lioness - Sivert Hoyem (2016)

Of course, when you start with a track like "Sleepwalking Man", on the one hand, you are benefiting, on the other hand you should at least try to maintain a high level, and it's not easy. But since Sivert Hoyem, a Norwegian musician son of a teacher and a (female) politician (of the Norwegian Socialist Left Party), former singer of never too much regrets (but misunderstood) Madrugada, is almost worshipped here, the result is a victory over all fronts. It is to be said that having a little lost sight him, I have recovered this "Lioness" (2016), and the previous "Endless Love" (2014), and this last it seemed to me a little weaker. With "Lioness", Hoyem moves away a little from the rocky use of electric guitars, delights him with orchestral arrangements, with intimate tracks ("It Belongs To Me") and a whole host of other endless influences and genres that I will let you discover by yourself, but handling them with mastery, helped by his wonderful voice, too often underestimated, and his ability to write beautiful songs. Great record, which precedes the recent "Live at Acropolis", of which I will talk to you shortly.
