Used Future è il sesto disco della band di Austin, Texas. Molti si sono già dimenticati di loro, hanno cominciato a snobbarli dopo Apocryphon, che aveva la "colpa" di uscire dopo il loro indiscusso capolavoro, Warp Riders. Sarò testardo, ma non sposo questa causa, e continuo ad ascoltare i loro lavori con innegabile godimento, apprezzando il loro continuo miglioramento, e naturalmente, cercando di ascoltarli sempre a volume molto molto alto. Anche in questo Used Future ci sento la grandeur delle vecchie band hard rock storiche, i suoni taglienti delle chitarre ma anche gli interludi vagamente progressive (Nocturne), e mi calo nel loro mondo fumettistico. Hanno imparato ad usare qualsiasi influenza venga loro in mente (ascoltatevi Sea of Green, elettronica, southern rock ed heavy metal), hanno portato avanti la loro ricerca melodica (Dont Get Too Comfortable), e a scrivere grandi, grandi pezzi (Book of Thoth). A me continuano a piacere.

Even in this Used Future I feel the grandeur of old historical hard rock bands, the sharp sounds of the guitars but also the vaguely progressive interludes (Nocturne), and I fall into their comics world. They have learned to use whatever influence they have in mind (listen to Sea of Green, electronics, southern rock and heavy metal), they have continued their melodic research (Don't Get Too Comfortable), and to write good, good tracks (Book of Thoth). I still like them.
