Secondo disco per il 24enne cantautore di Hertford UK, che, per una volta, almeno da quanto risulta dalla sua breve bio, non esce da un talent. Una voce particolare, potente e profonda, che lo stesso Barnett (vero cognome del giovane talento, George Ezra sono i suoi nomi) ammette di aver "ricalcato" dallo stile di Lead Belly, al quale a sua volta era arrivato seguendo la sua giovanile ossessione per Bob Dylan, e domandandosi chi aveva ascoltato lui e chi lo aveva ispirato, insieme a Woody Guthrie ed Howlin' Wolf.
E' bravo a scrivere canzoni, dipinge belle armonie, per il momento i testi non mi paiono all'altezza del suo ispiratore, ma chissà. Disco molto piacevole.
Second album for the 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Hertford UK, who, for once, at least from what appears from his short bio, does not come out of a talent show. A particular voice, powerful and profound, that the same Barnett (true surname of the young talent, George Ezra are his names) admits he "picked up" from the style of Lead Belly, to whom, in turn, had arrived following his youthful obsession for Bob Dylan, and wondering who had listened to him and who inspired him, along with Woody Guthrie and Howlin' Wolf.
He is good at writing songs, he paints beautiful harmonies, for the moment the lyrics do not seem to me at the height of his inspirer, but who knows. Very nice album.
