No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Sotera - Junius (2026)

This time, I’ve come across this band from Boston, Massachusetts—now on their fourth album (though, for the record, they’ve also released numerous EPs over their 23-year career)—thanks to a tip-off from the usual "well-informed" sources. They create highly interesting post-metal that is, in their case too, truly classy. The initial impression is genuinely disorienting; for instance, Joseph E. Martinez’s vocal timbre reminded me—at first listen—of Dave Gahan (I don’t need to tell you which band he sings for, do I?). The rest is incredibly powerful, high-impact metal featuring progressive compositional structures. Another excellent record.
