E' vero, come dice Dave Simpson su The Guardian, che non sono molte le band che riescono a suonare grande musica nella loro terza decade insieme. Il sound della band scozzese è sempre attuale, onirico, moderno e decadente al tempo stesso, adattissimo alle colonne sonore ma pure per diventare colonna sonora di un tratto di vita di ognuno. Reminiscenze post new wave, robuste linee di basso, tastiere e synth quanto basta per disegnare appunto atmosfere eteree ma forti. Addirittura un pezzo cantato, Party in the Dark, cosa mai esclusa, ma rara per i Mogwai, come anche in 1000 Foot Face. Disco valido per una band che non delude mai.
It's true, as Dave Simpson write on The Guardian, that there are few bands make great music in their third decade together. The sound of the Scottish band is always current, dreamy, modern and decadent at the same time, adaptable to the soundtrack but also to become a soundtrack of a piece of life of everyone. Reminiscences post new wave, robust bass guitar lines, keyboards and synths just enough to draw ethereal but strong atmospheres. Even some singing tracks, "Party in the Dark", never excluded, but rare for Mogwai, as well as "1000 Foot Face". A good album for a band that never disappoints.
