Nono album in studio per la band di Bellingham, Washington, a tre anni di distanza dal precedente Kintsugi. Non trovo niente di nuovo da dire sulla band, che ha scritto pure belle pagine di indie rock, ma che mi pare decisamente impantanata su una sorta di cliché: ogni tanto c'è qualche traccia che arriva un po' più vicina al cuore, non c'è nessuna canzone veramente brutta, ma pare proprio di sentire sempre lo stesso disco. Forse, come qualcuno tra i critici professionali fa notare, dopo i 40 (riferendosi al leader della band Ben Gibbard), ci vorrebbe qualche sforzo in più.
Ninth studio album for the band from Bellingham, Washington, three years after the previous Kintsugi. I can not find anything new to say about the band, which has also written beautiful pages of indie rock, but that seems to me decidedly mired on a sort of cliché: sometimes there are some tracks that comes a little closer to the heart, there are not really bad song, but it seems to always listen to the same record. Perhaps, as someone among the professional critics points out, after 40 (referring to the band leader Ben Gibbard), it would take some more effort.
