Sesto disco per gli statunitensi di New York, e, devo dire, che disco. A parte la spettacolare copertina (una foto di Elliot Richardson, Procuratore Generale US che si dimise, ai tempi del Watergate, piuttosto che obbedire agli ordini di Nixon, che voleva lui licenziasse il Procuratore Speciale Archibald Cox), e un altrettanto stiloso video per il terzo singolo If You Really Love Nothing (con Kristen Stewart e Finn Wittrock), il disco è veramente bello dall'inizio alla fine. Lo stile degli Interpol non cambia di una virgola, le atmosfere cupe, la voce, sempre bellissima, di Paul Banks (che continua ad eseguire anche le parti di basso in studio), ad ombreggiare (non è il caso di usare il termine illuminare) ottime canzoni, quali la già citata If You Really Love Nothing, la rimata The Rover, la mia preferita Flight of Fancy, Number 10, l'altra bellissima It Probably Matters. Un bell'ascolto.
Sixth album for the Americans of New York, and, I must say, what a record. Apart from the spectacular cover (a photo of Elliot Richardson, US Attorney General who resigned, at the time of Watergate, rather than obeying the orders of Nixon, who wanted him to dismiss the Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox), and an equally stylish video for the third single If You Really Love Nothing (with Kristen Stewart and Finn Wittrock), the record is really beautiful from start to finish. The style of Interpol does not change of a comma, the dark atmosphere, the always beautiful voice of Paul Banks (who continues to perform the bass parts in the studio), to shade in (it is not appropriate to use the term light up) excellent songs, such as the already mentioned If You Really Love Nothing, the rhytmed The Rover, my favorite Flight of Fancy, Number 10, the other beautiful It Probably Matters. A really nice listening.
