Dopo che Offred e altre ancelle vengono portate a forza in un Fenway Park (lo stadio di baseball dei Boston Red Sox) in rovina, dove viene loro fatto credere che saranno impiccate, ma alla fine vengono solo spaventate, la stessa Offred viene tenuta in cattività, ma non maltrattata, visto che è incinta. Viene comunque sottoposta a pressioni psicologiche, finché, grazie a Nick, fugge. Nei flashback, scopriamo qualcosa di più su come è cominciata la guerra civile che ha portato alla creazione di Gilead.
Avvincente il giusto, e decisamente sempre più angosciante, per quanto metaforico (una moderna società totalitaria e teocratica), continua la serie basata sul libro omonimo di Margaret Atwood. Paradossalmente, le performance recitative sono decisamente sbilanciate: la "lotta" per la migliore è tra Elizabeth Moss (Offred/June) e Yvonne Strahovski (Serena), con Samira Wiley (Moira), Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia), Madeline Brewer (Janine) e Alexis Bledel (Emily) a breve distanza. Le prestazioni maschili, seppure rispettabili, sono lontane anni luce. Fotografia angosciante come la storia, scelta delle inquadrature fortemente influenzata dalla pittura (accade spesso, ma qui più che in altre serie). Rinnovata per una terza stagione.
Exciting enough, and definitely more and more distressing, however metaphorical (a modern totalitarian and theocratic society), continues the series based on the book of the same name by Margaret Atwood. Paradoxically, the performances of the cast are decidedly unbalanced: the "fight" for the best is between Elizabeth Moss (Offred / June) and Yvonne Strahovski (Serena), with Samira Wiley (Moira), Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia), Madeline Brewer (Janine ) and Alexis Bledel (Emily) a short distance away. The male performances, even if respectable, are light years away. Cinematography as distressing as history, choice of shots strongly influenced by painting (often happens, but here more than in other series). Renewed for a third season.
