Il nono album di una delle mie musiciste preferite, in alcuni momenti mi ha fatto esclamare "la svolta pop di Chelsea Wolfe", e si potrebbe perfino pensare che sarebbe stato un bene. Dopo attenti ascolti, che nello specifico ho intervallato con quelli del nuovo disco di Phoebe Bridgers (sono usciti a distanza di una settimana l'uno dall'altro), ho concluso semplicemente che la nostra (mia e di altri attenti ed illuminati ascoltatori) eroina, ha sfornato un altro disco maestosamente bello, contenente alcune gemme preziose, ed altre canzoni che per lei sono ordinarie, ma che per molti altri musicisti sarebbero i picchi delle loro carriere. Direi che ho reso l'idea.
The ninth album from one of my favorite musicians made me exclaim at times, "Chelsea Wolfe’s pop turn"—and one might even think that would be a good thing. After careful listening—which I interspersed with spins of the new Phoebe Bridgers record (they were released just a week apart)—I simply concluded that our heroine (mine and that of other discerning, enlightened listeners) has churned out another majestically beautiful album. It contains some precious gems alongside songs that, while merely "ordinary" for her, would represent the career peaks of many other musicians. I think that gets the point across.
