The Awakening - P.O.D. (2015)

Ottimi e massicci mid tempos come Am I Awake, Rise of NWO, Somebody's Trying To Kill Me, Get Down, The Awakening (bellissimo arrangiamento, bellissima melodia), This Goes Out to You, pezzi veloci come Revolución (con l'ennesima partecipazione di Lou Koller dei Sick of it All) e Speed Demon, ballad come Criminal Conversations (con il featuring di Maria Brink degli In This Moment; da notare, curiosamente, come Maria avesse collaborato qualche tempo fa con i Papa Roach, una band che, se ci fate caso, somiglia abbastanza, musicalmente, ai P.O.D.), e perfino un esperimento quale Want It All, un pezzo che ingloba moltissimi elementi jazz.
Insomma, i ragazzi non stanno certo con le mani in mano.

Which brings us to 2015, together with P.O.D. "The Awakening", came out more or less a year ago, is the tenth album (Wikipedia says this is the ninth, disregarding "SoCal Sessions", no one knows why), the first concept album of the band from San Diego, California. In fact, the album is peppered with skit and voice overs, that tell a story (of course) of redemption and "rebirth." It even seems that Sonny Sandoval (the singer, that once had dreadlocks), is determined to shoot a short film. As it is, the album was a sales flop, some say because of very little promotion, but musically it is nothing less than the rest of the production P.O.D. Good and solids "mid tempos" like "Am I Awake", "Rise of NWO", "Somebody's Trying To Kill Me", "Get Down", "The Awakening" (beautiful arrangements, beautiful melody), "This Goes Out to You", fast songs like "Revoluciòn" (with yet another participation of Lou Koller from Sick of it All) and "Speed Demon", ballad like "Criminal Conversations" (with the featuring of Maria Brink from In This Moment, to note, curiously, like Maria had worked some time ago with Papa Roach, a band that, if you notice, it sounds like P.O.D., musically), and even an experiment as "Want It All", a piece that incorporates many elements of jazz.
In short, the boys are certainly not with their arms folded.
