Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen (1975)

25 agosto 1975, esce Born to Run, terzo disco di Bruce Springsteen e la sua E Street Band. Dopo due album, entrambi usciti nel 1973, The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle e Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., ben accolti dalla critica ma con un magro riscontro di vendite e di pubblico, Born to Run è il disco dell'esplosione, della popolarità, del successo. Al primo ascolto, si capisce immediatamente, prima di arrivare all'immensa e conclusiva Jungleland, il perché: questo disco è bellissimo, fondamentale, maestoso nella sua commistione di rock da stadio, blues rock, un pizzico di americana e perfino una spruzzata di jazz, il tutto condito da liriche popolari, vicino alla vita della gente comune, venato da una poesia ruvida, e tutta statunitense. I pezzi che lo compongono, otto, a prescindere dal successo avuto dai due singoli Born to Run e Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out, sono tutti dei capolavori, intensi, tesi, intrisi di felicità e malinconia, difficilmente dimenticabili. Thunder Road, il pezzo di apertura, è, al giudizio di un non  esperto come me, un classico pezzo alla Springsteen, e decisamente non passa inosservato, ti si incolla addosso come una maglietta durante un'estate densa di umidità. Night e Backstreets formano una doppietta epica. Disco sicuramente epocale.



August 25, 1975, "Born to Run" is released, the third album of Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band. After two albums, both released in 1973, "The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle", and "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.", well received by critics but with a meager results in terms of sales and audiences, "Born to Run" is the album of the explosion of popularity, of success. At first listen, you understand immediately, long before you get to the immense and conclusive "Jungleland", why this record is beautiful, important, majestic in its mix of stadium rock, blues rock, a dash of Americana and even a jazz splash, all seasoned with lyrics as a popular opera, near the lives of ordinary people, tinged with a rough poetry, classic of the US. The tracks that make it up, eight, regardless of the success of the two singles "Born to Run" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out", are all masterpieces, intense, tense, imbued with happiness and melancholy, hardly forgettable. "Thunder Road", the opening track, is, to the judgment of a non-expert like me, a classic Springsteen's piece, and definitely does not go unnoticed, it paste it on you like a T-shirt during a summer of dense humidity. "Night" and "Backstreets" forms an epic couple. Album definitely momentous.
