Nel 2013, Natasha Khan e la band inglese TOY, avevano collaborato per una cover di The Bride (chissà se l'idea per il suo ultimo disco viene da qui), una canzone iraniana dell'epoca pre-rivoluzionaria. Nel 2015, sempre la Khan (Bat for Lashes) e il produttore Dan Carey, si sono appassionati all'ascolto di molti dischi psych e folk degli anni '70, provenienti da tutto il mondo, hanno scelto sei pezzi, ed hanno invitato nuovamente i TOY per suonare, mentre alla voce naturalmente avrebbe cantato Natasha. La band ha imparato i pezzi, e quando si sono ritrovati, il tutto ha necessitato di un solo giorno di registrazione. Ne è uscito un dischetto contenenti sei pezzi, due iraniani (Ghooroobaa Gashangan, Helelyos), due marocchini (Ha Howa Ha Howa, Kassidat El Akka, quest'ultimo davvero ipnotizzante), uno thailandese (Lam Plearn Klew Bao), e addirittura uno statunitense (War In Peace), veramente strano per gli standard attuali: ancestrale, ipnotico, magnetico, tribale, quasi allucinogeno. Senza dubbio interessante.
In 2013, Natasha Khan and the British band TOY, had collaborated on a cover of "The Bride" (I wonder if the idea for his latest album born from here), a pre-revolutionary Iranian song. In 2015, always Khan (Bat for Lashes) and the producer Dan Carey, found passionates about listening to a lot of psych and folk albums of the '70s, from all over the world, they have chosen six pieces, and invited back TOY to play, while the item would naturally sang Natasha. The non-english lyrics were translated with the help of various friends of Khan and Carey, also by email. The band has learned the pieces, and when they came together, they needed only one day of recording. The result was an album containing six pieces, two Iranians (Ghooroobaa Gashangan, Helelyos), two Moroccans (Ha Howa Ha Howa, Kassidat El Akka, this last really mesmerizing), a Thai one (Lam Plearn Klew Bao), and even one American (War In Peace), really strange by today's standards: ancestral, hypnotic, magnetic, tribal, almost hallucinogenic. Without a doubt interesting.
