Come anticipato nella recensione del loro Greatest Hits due giorni or sono, nel 2014, dopo un'onorata militanza per l'etichetta Century Media durata anni, gli In This Moment di Maria Brink (qui il suo sito personale, esclusivamente a pagamento) passano alla major Atlantic, e danno alle stampe Black Widow. Lo stile non cambia, a partire dalla cover, ma l'impressione che ho è che le capacità vocali della Brink siano esaltate ancor di più da molte tracce dall'andamento tipico delle ballad metal. Gli stereotipi del nu metal sono naturalmente tutti presenti (si sentono moltissimo i primi Korn), così come un certo tipo di approccio industrial (la strofa di Dirty Pretty è puro Marilyn Manson virato al femminile, come pure altri passaggi del disco e dello stile In This Moment). Ottima Sexual Hallucination in duetto con Brent Smith degli Shinedown, molti i momenti teatrali (interludi parlati), dove naturalmente la Brink impazza. Non solo: ascoltare la sua prova vocale sulla conclusiva Out of Hell, per stupirsi di come nessun produttore le abbia proposto un film.
