No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

22, un milione

22, A Million - Bon Iver (2016)

In 29 #Strafford APTS, Justin Vernon and his pards remind us that base, they would be folk musicians. But certainly, if you stand listening to this its brand new third album titled "22, A Million", looking folk, or worse, alternative rock, you are really out of the way, or you will have a bad surprise.
Let's be clear: before listening for the first time, I happened by chance to read a review about it, written by someone who probably understand music more than me, which completely loathed the album. I was amazed, and I set myself to listening another time, but for the decisive time, with a little concern. Then, while I was listening to the disc with due concentration, I read another one, the Pitchfork's, by Amanda Petrusich, a review that I strongly suggest you read perhaps more than to listen to the disc, because beautiful, it seemed to me much closer to objectivity (but of course, is a personal taste).
All this eulogy to tell you that Bon Iver, with this third disc, surprises again, going to unfamiliar territory, territories also beaten today by other artists, but of course that need attention and, as mentioned, involve dangers. You know that I like to "reward" the artists who dare, even though I am not always capable to follow them. I never recovered myself from Radiohead's "Kid A" (an album that the reviewer from Pitchfork uses a lot as a touchstone), but I must confess that this album of the Wisconsin band fascinates me, maybe if we exclude the over-testing of 21 M<><>N WATER, not counting the texts, imbued with minimalist existentialism and sensitive delicacy.
