Ne leggevo in ogni dove, per cui ho dovuto mettermi al passo. Il secondo disco di Frank Ocean, R & B singer sulla bocca di tutti, stava diventando un affare enorme. Nonostante si dica sempre, ultimamente, che i musicisti non guadagnano più sui dischi, perché non se ne vendono più, Ocean, per "liberarsi" dal contratto con la Def Jam (una volta si faceva a pugni per farsi mettere sotto contratto dalla Def Jam), ha fatto uscire, esattamente il giorno precedente all'uscita di questo Blond (il "vero" secondo disco), un visual album dal titolo Endless, che lo liberava così dal contratto che prevedeva due dischi.
E quindi, com'è questo Blond? Sicuramente un bel disco di R & B moderno, decisamente malinconico (come lo descrive il The Guardian, trovandomi perfettamente d'accordo), con molti suoni inusuali per un disco di questo genere, che si fa forte di una leggiadria triste, di un romanticismo che probabilmente solo quelli che discendono dagli schiavi possono avere.
Lo stile e l'approccio è un po' l'equivalente nero dei bianchi/voglio-la-pelle-nera Bon Iver e James Blake, anche se qui, c'è quella maestria tipica di chi la black music ce l'ha nel DNA, e non solo come passione. Se devo essere onesto, rispetto ai bianchi, qui c'è più genio.
Ospiti d'eccezione, ma usati con una parsimonia notevole: Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, André 3000, James Blake, Yung Lean, Sebastian, e produttori altrettanto noti.
Pezzi preferiti, Self Control e White Ferrari.
I've read it everywhere, so I had to catch me up. The second album of Frank Ocean, R & B singer on everyone's lips, was becoming a huge deal. Although we always say, lately, that the musicians do not earn more on the discs, because they do not sell it anymore, Ocean, in order to "get rid" of the contract with Def Jam (once, musicians begging to be putted under contract by Def Jam), he released, just the day before the exit of this "Blond" (the "real" second album), a visual album titled "Endless", so that freed him from the contract, which provided two album.
And then, how is this "Blond"? Definitely a very good album of modern R & B, decidedly melancholy (as described by "The Guardian", finding myself in complete agreement), with many unusual sounds for a genre like this, built it on a sad grace, a romanticism that probably only those who are descendants of slaves may have.
The style and approach is a bit the black equivalent of the whites wannabe blacks Bon Iver and James Blake, although here, there is the typical skill of those have black music in his DNA, and not just as a (profound) passion. I have to say, altough this kind of music it is not exactly my cup of tea, here, respect to the quoted white artists, there is more genius.
