Che dire, meno male che quando vi parlai definendolo un mio guilty pleasure, del loro secondo disco, il loro maggior successo commerciale, Move Along, del 2005, sottolineai che era davvero poca cosa, ma qualche pezzo era irresistibile. Già con il seguente When the World Comes Down, 2008, la festa era finita. Non ricordo neppure come, mi sono tornati in mente qualche settimana fa, e sono andato a verificare che fine avessero fatto: questo del 2012 è, al momento, il loro ultimo lavoro. Ed è un disco di una pochezza estrema, seppure sicuramente la band di Stillwater, Oklahoma, continuerà ad avere un suo pubblico ed un suo seguito. Qualche passaggio qua e là ci ricorda che saprebbero anche azzeccare qualche bella melodia, e la ricerca un po' random di echi degli anni '80 ci segnala che i ragazzi cercherebbero anche di fare qualcosa di diverso. Ma, ripeto, questo disco è davvero poca cosa.
What can I say, thank goodness that when I spoke about it, calling it a guilty pleasure, their second album, their most high commercially successful, "Move Along", 2005, I pointed out that it was really a small thing, but some tracks were irresistible. Already with the following "When The World Comes Down", 2008, the party was over. I do not even remember how, I was reminded of them a few weeks ago, and I went to see what had happened: this one, of 2012, at the time, is their last job. And it is an album of an extreme smallness, though surely the band Stillwater, Oklahoma, will continue to have an audience and a following. Few passages here and there reminds us that they would know also hit some nice melody, and the research, a bit random, of echoes of the 80's, informs us that the boys also would try to do something different. But again, this record is really a little thing.
