Terzo disco per il fenomeno del neo soul Janelle Monae, ultimamente molto attiva anche come attrice. Nonostante sia anche questo un concept album, non è la prosecuzione della storia portata avanti con i due album precedenti (la protagonista di questa storia, a differenza di quella delle due precedenti, si chiama Jane 57821). Ed è, come per il disco precedente The Electric Lady, un disco molto ben fatto nella forma e nel contenuto, soprattutto dal punto di vista dei testi, oserei dire militanti, ma non troppo eccitante, come invece lo fu il suo primo The ArchAndroid. Tutto questo seppure zeppo di importanti collaborazioni (Grimes, Brian Wilson, Zoe Kravitz, Pharrell), e, ripeto, estremamente ben fatto. Ci sono alcune canzoni che spiccano (a mio giudizio Screwed e The Americans), ma nella sua interezza non è un disco che continuerà a suonare nelle mie orecchie. Vi allego il mediometraggio, dal titolo omonimo, col quale è stato lanciato il disco.
