Con questo disco live in studio, registrato apposta per far uscire un bluray e quindi filmato in uno studio estremamente suggestivo, situato sull'isola norvegese di Giske, ho scoperto questo duo russo di San Pietroburgo, formato dalla cantante Marjana Semkina e dal pianista Gleb Kolyadin. Gli iamthemorning prendono il nome dalla omonima canzone degli Oceansize, contenuta nel loro debutto Effloresce, hanno all'attivo già tre LP, un EP e un disco dal vivo, ed il loro stile è prettamente rock, se volete progressive, se volete chamber rock. Immaginatevi un pianista virtuoso che però è chiaramente amante dell'hard rock, e una cantante che ricorda più Tori Amos che Kate Bush. Sul disco in questione suonano anche Karl James Pestka (violino), Guillaume Lagravière (violoncello), Joshua Ryan Franklin (basso), Evan Carson (batteria), e la scaletta è naturalmente composta da tracce già edite (solo nell'edizione bluray, dopo i titoli di coda, c'è un accenno ad una nuova composizione, che quindi annuncia l'uscita del loro prossimo disco in studio. Affascinanti, davvero.
With this live in studio album, recorded specifically to let out a bluray, and so, filmed in an extremely suggestive studio, located on the Norwegian island of Giske, I discovered this Russian, from Saint Petersburg, duo, formed by the singer Marjana Semkina and the pianist Gleb Kolyadin. The iamthemorning take their name from the eponymous song of the Oceansize, contained in their debut Effloresce, they already have three LPs, an EP and a live record, and their style is purely rock, if you want progressive, if you want chamber rock. Imagine a virtuoso pianist who is clearly a lover of hard rock, and a singer who is more reminiscent of Tori Amos than Kate Bush. On this album also play Karl James Pestka (violin), Guillaume Lagravière (cello), Joshua Ryan Franklin (bass), Evan Carson (drums), and the setlist is naturally composed of tracks already released; only in the bluray edition, after the credits, there is a hint to a new composition, which then announces the release of their next studio album. Fascinating, really.
