Incredibili Overkill: non si sono mai fermati dal 1980. Questo The Wings of War è il loro diciannovesimo album in studio, con un lasso di tempo massimo tra un disco e l'altro di tre anni. Quindi, 39 anni di attività e due membri costantemente nella line-up, Carlo "D.D." Verni, basso e cori, e Robert Ellsworth (meglio conosciuto come Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth) alla voce. Dieci tracce (undici nella versione CD) di puro thrash metal, quel genere che li ha visti protagonisti negli anni '80, nella schiera delle band "secondarie" ma di culto per gli appassionati, mentre in realtà loro sono stati dei precursori insieme ad Exodus e Testament. Disco quindi fuori dal tempo, ma che i vecchi amanti del genere (come me, del resto) si godranno dall'inizio alla fine.

So, 39 years of activity and two members constantly in the line-up, Carlo "D.D." Verni, bass and backing vocals, and Robert Ellsworth (better known as Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth) on vocals. Ten tracks (eleven in the CD version) of pure thrash metal, the genre that saw them as protagonists in the 1980s, in the ranks of "secondary" but cult bands for fans, while in reality they were forerunners together with Exodus and Testament. Album that is so out of time, but that old lovers of the genre (like me, for that matter) will enjoy it from beginning to end.
