Quarto album per la band svedese, che come i seguaci sapranno, annovera tra le sue fila il batterista svedese-uruguaiano Martin Lopez, già con Opeth e Amon Amarth, e gli ex Willowtree Joel Ekelof (voce) e Kim Platbarzdis (chitarra), nonché, inizialmente, anche il bassista Steve Di Giorgio, ex Testament, Death e Sadus. La band mescola due grandi influenze, quella dei Tool e quella dei System of a Down, ottenendo un qualcosa che a volte si avvicina pure ai Disturbed. C'è qualche accenno djent, fortissimi richiami allo stile di David Gilmour nei soli di chitarra, e un cantato pulito, oserei dire a tratti lirico. Canzoni piuttosto elaborate, lunghe, una ricerca della melodia ostinata, sonorità smussate dalle tastiere. Ascolto soddisfacente per gli amanti del metal di categoria.
Fourth album for the Swedish band, which as the followers will know, counts among its ranks the Swedish-Uruguayan drummer Martin Lopez, already with Opeth and Amon Amarth, and the former Willowtree Joel Ekelof (vocals) and Kim Platbarzdis (guitar), as well as, initially, also bassist Steve Di Giorgio, formerly Testament, Death and Sadus. The band mixes two great influences, the one from Tool and the one from System of a Down, getting something that sometimes even comes close to the Disturbed. There are a few djent hints, very strong references to the style of David Gilmour in guitar solos, and a clean singing, I would dare to say lyrical at times. Rather elaborate, long songs, a stubborn search for melody, angles softened by keyboards. Satisfying listening for lovers of classy metal.
