Nine è l'ottavo disco in studio dei Blink-182 (s'intitola così perché il trio ha deciso di includere nel conteggio anche il loro demo album Buddha del 1994). Con Matt Skiba ormai fermamente al posto di Tom DeLonge alla chitarra e voce, i californiani svoltano, come nota correttamente Nathan Smith su Pitchfork, verso un pubblico più giovane, verso una sorta di pop punk alla Panic! at the Disco e alla Fall Out Boy, lasciando incidere molto il drum programming del batterista Travis Barker, sulla composizione. I testi che riflettono la lotta contro la depressione da parte del bassista/cantante Mark Hoppus lasciano trapelare appena quel fondo di amarezza. Il risultato è un disco davvero poco convincente, e anche poco divertente.
Nine is the eighth studio album by Blink-182 (it is titled this way because the trio has decided to include their 1994 demo album Buddha in the count). With Matt Skiba now firmly in place of Tom DeLonge on guitar and vocals, the Californians turn, as Nathan Smith correctly notes on Pitchfork, towards a younger audience, towards a sort of pop punk a la Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy, leaving the drum programming of drummer Travis Barker, influencing heavily the songwriting. The lyrics reflecting the fight against depression by bassist/singer Mark Hoppus barely reveal that bitterness. The result is a very unconvincing record, and also little fun.
