Dischi come questo, mi perdoneranno i die hard fan dei Pixies, fanno riflettere sulla necessità di certe reunion. Ammetto di non essere stato un esagitato neppure nei primi anni '90, seppure li abbia doverosamente ascoltati e apprezzati. Arrivo a questo Beneath the Eyrie senza essermi reso conto che avevano già fatto uscire Indie Cindy (2014) e Head Carrier (2016), e onestamente non so se mi sono perso qualcosa. Su questo nuovo disco, posso dirvi che si, si sente che sono stati una grande band, e che possiedono ancora quel fuoco sacro, sotto la cenere, ma di certo c'è pure che questo non è un disco imperdibile. Per la cronaca, saprete che Paz Lenchantin ha preso il posto che fu prima di Kim Deal, poi di Kim Shattuck brevemente, al basso, e che Paz è l'unica che, in qualche occasione, compone le canzoni, oltre a Black Francis.
Album like this, the die hard fan of the Pixies will forgive me, they make you reflect on the need for certain reunions. I admit that I was not a big fan of them even in the early 90s, although I have dutifully listened to them and appreciated them. I come to this Beneath the Eyrie without realizing that they had already released Indie Cindy (2014) and Head Carrier (2016), and I honestly don't know if I missed something. About this new record, I can tell you that yes, we hear that they were a great band, and that they still have that sacred fire, under the ashes, but certainly there is also that this is not a must-listen. For the record, you'll know that Paz Lenchantin took the place that was before Kim Deal, then Kim Shattuck briefly, on bass, and that Paz is the only one who, on some occasion, composes the songs, in addition to Black Francis.
