Nono disco in studio per la band di Olympia, Washington. Per chi non lo sapesse, la band è un duo, e vede Adrienne Davies alla batteria, e il fondatore Dylan Carlson, alla chitarra (e al basso). Sempre per chi non lo sapesse, la band, per il suo stile fondato su chitarre distorte e "droni", riff ripetitivi e ossessivi, è considerata tra i pioneri del drone metal. Dopo aver lavorato, negli album passati, per addizione ma con molta parsimonia, fino ad arrivare addirittura al cantato in tre pezzi sul precedente Primitive and Deadly, qua gli Earth tornano all'essenziale: riff melodici ripetuti all'infinito, assoluta lentezza delle tracce, assenza di cantato. Carlson dice che vuole sentire riff delle band che gli piacciono all'infinito, e questo, in definitiva, è quello che fa da sempre (dal 1989) con gli Earth. Accompagnato dalla Davies, questa missione gli riesce sempre molto bene.
Ninth studio album for the band from Olympia, Washington. For the uninitiated, the band is a duo, and sees Adrienne Davies on drums, and founder Dylan Carlson, on guitar (and bass). Still for those who do not know, the band, due to its style based on distorted guitars and "drones", repetitive and obsessive riffs, is considered among the pioneers of drone metal. After working, in the past albums, by addition but very sparingly, up to even the three tracks sung on the previous Primitive and Deadly, here the Earth return to the essential: melodic riffs repeated to infinity, absolute slowness of the tracks, absence of singing. Carlson says he wants to hear riffs from the bands he likes forever, and this, ultimately, is what he has always done (since 1989) with Earth. Accompanied by Davies, this mission is always succeeds from him very well.
