No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Black Anima - Lacuna Coil (2019)

I confess that I have never followed carefully the very Italian Lacuna Coil, respecting them from afar. In this round, the ninth album in the studio that follows some line up changes, I started listening in a very neutral way (without preconceptions and without too many expectations), and I must say that the record flows which is a beauty, for listeners who are accustomed to metal neither extreme nor too pop. The Milanesi are not as obvious as the Evanescence, but neither so extremes (depending on the point of view) like the Arch Enemy. They retain gothic elements, incorporate some metalcore influence, nu metal reminiscences, and, undoubtedly, the vocal chemistry between Andrea Ferro's harsh singing, and Cristina Scabbia's melodic vocals, is the trademark and the strong point of this band. Very nice record, with great songs and no fillers.
