Undicesimo album in studio per la band, una volta svedese, adesso possiamo definirla senza dubbio internazionale, visto che la cantante Alissa White-Gluz è canadese, e uno dei chitarristi, Jeff Loomis, è statunitense. Vi dico subito che il disco non mi ha esaltato, ma voglio anche ricordare da un lato, che confermo tutto quello che scrissi a proposito del loro progressivo cambiamento di genere musicale, nella recensione del precedente Will to Power del 2017, dall'altro, mi pare innegabile che questo progressivo sganciamento dal (melodic) death metal, contemporaneo al loro avvicinamento al (heavy) metal classico, ha allargato la loro base di ascoltatori. Quindi, lo ripeto: l'heavy metal moderno, a parte qualche band storica, è questo, e sicuramente, gli Arch Enemy ne sono esponenti di punta.

I tell you right away that the record did not excite me, but I also want to remember on the one hand, that I confirm everything I wrote about their progressive change of musical genre, in the review of the previous Will to Power of 2017, on the other, I it seems undeniable that this progressive detachment from (melodic) death metal, contemporary to their approach to classic (heavy) metal, has widened their base of listeners. So, I repeat: modern heavy metal, apart from some historical bands, is this, and surely, Arch Enemy are leading exponents.
