Nuovo EP per l'australiana trapiantata a Berlino Carla Dal Forno, il cui debutto l'anno scorso suscitò l'eccitazione di tutta la stampa specializzata, per cui non posso esimermi dal dire due parole in merito (e non perché mi consideri specializzato, al contrario).
La ragazza o ama perdutamente il dark, oppure non lo ha mai sentito e crede di averlo scoperto. Scherzi a parte, le atmosfere sono particolari, perché (dark pop le definisce Pitchfork) i pezzi si basano su percussioni e bassi, particolarmente cupi ma mai spettrali, come altri di cantautrici che potremmo facilmente accostare (l'ho già fatto nella recensione del suo You Know What It's Like), ma sono resi (appunto) pop dalla sue voce, che seppur volutamente mono-tono, è decisamente vellutata.Composizioni dalla costruzione classica, vagamente drammatiche, rese oniriche dalla voce. Possono piacere tantissimo, o annoiare a morte. A voi.
New EP for the Australian female singer, transplanted in Berlin, Carla Dal Forno, whose debut last year aroused the excitement of the entire specialized press, so I can not fail to say a few words about it (and not because I consider myself specialized, at the opposite).
The girl either loves the dark madly, or has never heard it and believes she has discovered it. Seriously, the atmospheres are particular, because (dark pop defines them as Pitchfork) the tracks are based on percussion and bass, particularly dark but never ghostly, like others of female singer-songwriters that we could easily cite (I've already done it in the review of her You Know What It's Like), but that become (in fact) pop trough her voice, which although deliberately mono-tone, it is definitely velvety. Compositions of classical construction, vaguely dramatic, made dreamlike by the voice. They may like you very much, or bore you to death. Up to you.
