Simpatica fin dalle note biografiche (ha dedicato Mainstream Kid, pezzo da questo album, eseguito al Late Night with Seth Meyers, a Bernie Sanders, si dichiara lesbica senza girarci troppo intorno, è sposata con Catherine, hanno una figlia, quest'anno ha fatto uscire un disco, Cover Stories, dove alcuni musicisti famosi - Pearl Jam, Dolly Parton, Adele, Torres, Miranda Lambert - fanno cover dei pezzi del suo disco più famoso, The Story dal 2007, e la cui prefazione è firmata da Barack Obama, il tutto devoluto ad una ONG - War Child), devo dire che, nonostante non mi ritenga un esperto di americana, l'attitudine, la voce, la duttilità, di Brandi Carlile, mi ha stupito, non avendola mai ascoltata.
