Settimo disco in studio per Neko Richelle Case, già The New Pornographers. Sempre ottimo indie rock mescolato con country, folk e americana, ma, anche qua, e sempre secondo me, nonostante i testi mai banali, ci sono pezzi profondi, ed altri meno toccanti, più spensierati, seppur ben scritti. La registrazione è stata eseguita in larga parte a Stoccolma, e il produttore è Bjorn Yttling, quello dei Peter Bjorn and John. Oracle of the Maritimes (uno dei pezzi più intensi) è scritta con Laura Veirs (nel 2016 le due e k.d. lang hanno lavorato su un disco insieme, suonando anche una ventina di date nordamericane), ma il picco indiscutibile del disco è, credeteci o no, una cover. Sleep All Summer, originariamente dei Crooked Fingers, e qui appunto cantata in duetto con la loro mente Eric Bachmann, è una di quelle canzoni che ti fanno venire voglia di innamorarti. Se ancora si pagassero, varrebbe da sola il prezzo del cd.

Always excellent indie rock mixed with country, folk and americana, but, even here, and always in my opinion, despite the never trivial lyrics, there are profound, emotional tracks, and others less touching, more carefree, though well written. The recording was performed in large part in Stockholm, and the producer is Bjorn Yttling, that of Peter Bjorn and John. Oracle of the Maritimes (one of the most intense tracks) is written with Laura Veirs (in 2016 the two and k.d. lang worked on a record together, playing about twenty North American dates), but the undisputed peak of the album is, believe it or no, a cover. Sleep All Summer, originally by the Crooked Fingers, and here precisely sung in duet with their mind Eric Bachmann, is one of those songs that make you want to fall in love. If we would still pay them, this song would be worth the price of the cd.
